A large group of armed men launched a coordinated attack on security installations in the Ornach area of Khuzdar district, seizing weapons and ammunition and setting a communication tower on fire. In a separate incident in Zehri, unidentified armed men set dam construction machinery on fire before fleeing into the mountains.
According to Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Yasir Iqbal Dashti, over 100 heavily armed assailants attacked a police station, seizing 12 rifles and a vehicle before torching the building. He said that the attackers also attempted to overrun a Levies station but faced resistance from security personnel. Despite the resistance, the attackers managed to seize a weapon from one Levies official and set a Levies vehicle on fire before retreating.
Local sources reported that the attackers freely patrolled the area for several hours, including in the main market, before fleeing toward the mountains. Reports suggest that the security personnel at some locations surrendered without resistance.
In a separate incident, armed militants launched an assault on Pakistani military forces engaged in operations in the mountainous regions of Machh (Bolan). Although local sources indicate military casualties, government aofficials have not confirmed any losses.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for either attack. However, similar incidents in the past have been linked to Baloch armed groups fighting for the region’s “independence” from Pakistan. The government and district administration have yet to issue an official statement regarding the attacks.
In a separate incident, armed men attacked the Sohindah dam site in Khuzdar’s tehsil Zehri, setting the construction machinery and equipment on fire before fleeing the site. A heavy contingent of security forces reportedly reached the area and launched a search operation to locate the elements involved in the attack.
