Under the Gwadar Security Plan, hundreds of cameras and modern equipment are being installed in the city to counter threats of attacks.

As part of a new security plan for Gwadar Port, a perimeter security system (PSS) has been made fully operational in the Gwadar Port area with the installation of 675 high-tech security cameras.

According to government sources, this significant step, costing 252.350 million PKR, has enhanced the security coverage for Gwadar Port, related infrastructure, Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Gwadar Free Zone South, and Gwadar Free Zone North buildings.

The PSS is a built-in multi-purpose system designed to detect threats, monitor, and analyze attack patterns with the aim of ensuring a secure environment in and around Gwadar Port and the adjoining free zones.

Under this advanced security system, the entry and exit points of Gwadar will be monitored, and the identification process of visitors to Gwadar will also be carried out.

Gwadar’s Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, praised this initiative and invited domestic and international investors to invest in Gwadar, appreciating the efforts of the port operator in ensuring the protection of Gwadar Port.

According to Gwadar Pro, the Gwadar Safe City Project, with an estimated cost of 3,325.6 million PKR, is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and Tribal Affairs, Government of Balochistan, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

It is worth noting that Gwadar Seaport and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have been labeled as exploitative projects by Baloch political and militant groups, leading to protests on various forums both domestically and internationally, and attacks on CPEC and other installations by Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups.

It is important to remember that due to projects like Gwadar Port, CPEC, and Saindak, there has been an increase in suicide attacks by Baloch fighters on Chinese engineers and Pakistani security personnel in Balochistan.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for all these attacks. The organization’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, stated in various statements that the attacks were carried out by members of the BLA’s Majeed Brigade. Furthermore, BLA and other active Baloch armed groups have also indicated plans to target foreign investors in Balochistan at different times.
