At least seven people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion in the Dasht-e-Barchi area in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, the Taliban police said on Tuesday.
Khalid Zadran, the spokesman for the Taliban security command in Kabul, said the explosion occurred in a “coaster-type” vehicle. He added that Taliban security teams had reached the spot and further details would be provided later.
The blast reportedly took place in the Mehtab Qilla area on Abdul Ali Mazari Road.
Meanwhile, The Islamic State news agency Amaq reported that Daesh (ISKP) claimed responsibility for the blast and said that the target was a van carrying members of the Shia-community.
It’s worth noting that the aforementioned blast is the second explosion this month in the Hazara dominated areas of Western Kabul. Earlier, on November 4, there was an explosion in Millat sports hall of Dasht Barchi.
According to data collected from hospitals, six people were killed and 11 injured in that blast. Meanwhile, Taliban officials confirmed two deaths and seven wounded only.
