At least a woman was killed and seven others, including children, were injured in an explosion in Lyari, the Baloch-dominated area in Karachi on Monday.
According to police, unidentified individuals hurled a hand grenade at the house of a businessman in Street No. 1 located in the Bihar Colony area of Lyari which exploded with a loud explosion.
Soon after the incident, rescue teams and police reached the area and rushed the injured to the civil hospital in the city.
Sources within the Chhipa Welfare Association commonly known as Chhipa confirmed that a woman named Razia, wife of 35-year-old Mohammad Ali, was killed in the blast while seven people, including children, were injured have been shifted to the trauma center of the Civil Hospital
The injured were identified as 6-year-old Adeel, son of Azam Khan, 8-year-old Atiqa, daughter of Azam Khan, 45-year-old Khairullah, son of Abdullah, 22-year-old Zohaib, son of Javed Akhtar, 34-year-old Muhammad Faisal, son of Fazal Ahmed, 35-year-old Ehsan Nabi son of Haji Muhammad Nabi and the 20-year-old daughter of Dilip Kumar.
According to DIG South Asad Raza, steps have been taken to find out the reason behind the grenade attack and to identify the accused. However, no one has immediately claimed responsibility for the aforementioned attack.
