Governor Balochistan, Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha resigned as the Governor on Wednesday.
According to an official handout issued to the press, the Governor has decided to step down as the constitutional head of the province.
The Governor has sent his resignation to President Dr. Arif Alvi. “My services would be available for the country and nation”, Mr. Agha said in a statement after tendering his resignation.
Governor’s resignation has come after the removal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan through a vote of no confidence by the opposition parties.
Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha was appointed as the Governor of Balochistan on July 7, 2021. Former PM Imran Khan had appointed Agha as Governor. He has spent more than 15 years as a worker at PTI, former ruling party. This was one of the reasons, which prompted Imran Khan to appoint him as the Governor of Balochistan.
Although, some dissidents within the former ruling party had opposed his appointment as the Governor of Balochistan.
