The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for attacks on Pakistani forces at multiple locations in Gwadar district, announcing the launch of an operation it has named ‘Operation Almas’ on Thursday.
In a statement issued to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the group had launched a coordinated attack on the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO)’s main camp at Gwadar Zero Point on 22 October.
He said fighters from the group’s Saddo Operational Battalion (SOB) and other military units were participating in the operation.
In a subsequent statement, the spokesperson claimed that fighting was continuing on multiple fronts and that a captain from Pakistan’s Military Intelligence (MI) and several personnel of the Special Services Group (SSG) had been killed.
The BLF also claimed that its fighters had taken control of the FWO camp at Gwadar Zero Point and raised the group’s flag there.
According to the statement, the group had also taken control of the Mazani police station and seized government weapons and other equipment. The spokesperson claimed that a police officer was killed during the clashes.
Separately, the group claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in the Gabd area, saying a vehicle had been destroyed and several personnel killed or injured. It also claimed to have taken control of a police post at Gabd Cross.
The BLF said Operation Almas was continuing at multiple locations and that it would release further details, including its final assessment of casualties and damage, after the operation had concluded.
No official response from Pakistani authorities was immediately available.
