Residents of two areas in Balochistan have reportedly been displaced from their homes in Shadi Kaur, Pasni, while schools, hospitals and businesses have been closed in Tump, Kech district, according to local sources.
In Shadi Kaur, sources said on Wednesday that Pakistani forces had forcefully evacuated residents from Goristani and Tarati and moved them to other locations. They said a large number of personnel were advancing in the area.
The reports follow an attack on Pakistani forces in Shadi Kaur in recent days in which eight personnel, including Major Wajahat, were reportedly killed. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Separately, the BLA’s maritime unit targeted Pakistan Coast Guards personnel in the waters off Pasni and Jiwani in recent days.
In Tump, local sources reported on Thursday that educational institutions, hospitals and businesses had been closed and residents instructed to remain indoors.
According to the sources, military personnel have been deployed along roads and at key locations, where travellers are being subjected to checks. The restrictions have affected routine activities in the area.
No official statement has been issued explaining the reported evacuation in Shadi Kaur or the restrictions in Tump. The duration and extent of the measures also remain unclear.
Separately, the provincial home minister and home secretary reportedly ordered residents of Shoor Parod, in Kalat district, to vacate the area by 30 October. The government has said that military operations are being conducted in areas where camps belonging to Baloch armed groups are present.
