Asma Jattak has renewed her appeal for protection for her family and transparent investigations into her abduction and the killings of her relatives, saying authorities must take the threats against them seriously.

Jattak, from Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, was abducted in February 2025 after a marriage proposal was rejected and was freed following protests. Her fiancé, other relatives and her father, schoolteacher Inayatullah Jattak, have been killed in separate incidents.

“We want justice, not revenge,” she said in her latest statement, adding that her family had no personal dispute with anyone and that their struggle was not a matter of personal enmity, ego or tribal honour.

She appealed to tribal elders, religious scholars and political and social figures to stand by the family, take notice of the threats and ensure their case did not become entangled in personal or factional disputes.

Recalling her father, Jattak said he had prayed for his opponents to be guided rather than wishing them harm. His teachings continued to guide her pursuit of justice, she said.

If justice was denied to her in this world, she said, she would present her case before Allah on the Day of Judgment, where power, influence and personal ego would carry no weight. She urged members of society to speak up for her family and not leave them alone.

Abduction and Family Killings

Inayatullah Jattak was shot dead in Khuzdar’s Shehzad City in August, hours after his daughter released a video appealing for protection.

The family has named Zahoor Jamalzai as the main suspect in both her abduction and her father’s killing. The Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB) attributed her abduction to what it described as a state-backed armed group led by Jamalzai, commonly referred to in Balochistan as a “death squad”.

During her captivity, a video circulated in which Asma said she had accompanied Jamalzai voluntarily. After returning to her family, however, she said she had been forced to record the statement under threats that her father and brothers would be killed.

Police said in August that six suspects had been arrested in connection with her father’s killing, while Jamalzai remained at large.

In September, Jattak questioned delays in an inquiry by a fact-finding committee formed on August 8. She said it had been given 15 days to submit its findings, but 51 days had passed without the report being made public or the family receiving an update.

She also questioned the transfers of committee head Dr Tufail Baloch and DIG Wazir Nasir, saying they had increased the family’s concerns about the investigation and their safety.

“We only want justice, accountability for the blood of our loved ones and protection for the remaining members of our family,” she said at the time.

Another Family Disputes Marriage Video

Meanwhile, the family of Laiba Sattar, a 19-year-old student missing from Kalat, has rejected a video in which she says she married voluntarily, alleging that it was recorded under coercion.

Her paternal aunt, Rukhsana Aziz, alleged that Islam Nechari abducted Laiba and killed her father, Abdul Sattar, after he refused a marriage proposal.

She also accused Nechari of operating with Shafiq Mengal’s backing. The family demanded that Laiba be brought forward so her safety and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance could be established.

According to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Laiba went missing from Kalat on March 29, 2026. It alleged that an armed group it described as a “death squad” was involved.

Laiba’s family said they had ended an earlier highway protest after district authorities promised her recovery and the suspect’s arrest. Despite those assurances, they said, they remained without information about her whereabouts or condition and continued to demand her recovery and an investigation into her father’s killing.
