Two bridges on the Quetta–Karachi highway were destroyed in late-night explosions in Mastung, while armed fighters blockaded the Quetta–Taftan trade route in Chagai and a Pakistani forces post came under attack in Kharan, local sources said.
The explosions in Mastung targeted two bridges, one near Balochistan Hotel and another close to Zhalli cemetery. No casualties were reported, while further details about the explosions and any additional damage were not immediately available.
In Kharan, armed fighters targeted a Pakistani soldier stationed at a post in the Rotinko area in a sniper attack on Thursday morning, sources said, adding that he was killed. There was no immediate official confirmation of the death.
Meanwhile, a large number of armed fighters established a blockade near Nokchah in Chagai on the Quetta–Taftan trade route early on Thursday and began checking vehicles travelling through the area.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attacks or the blockade at the time of reporting.
The incidents come amid repeated attacks on transport and economic infrastructure across Balochistan. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has claimed such attacks under what it calls an “economic blockade”, said its fighters carried out 87 operations in September.
The group’s September operations included prolonged highway blockades and attacks on commercial traffic, alongside the destruction of bridges and surveillance infrastructure. It also claimed temporary control of major roads and government installations and attacks on a lithium extraction project.
