A miner was killed in a landslide inside a coal mine in Balochistan’s Dukki district on Thursday.
Hospital sources identified the deceased as Ismail, who was buried beneath debris while working inside the mine.
Rescue teams retrieved his body and transported it to hospital, where it was handed over to his family after the necessary formalities were completed.
The incident comes amid recurring accidents in Balochistan’s coal mines, including landslides, mine collapses and toxic gas accumulation. According to the Pakistan Central Mines Labour Federation, at least 89 miners were killed in mining accidents across Balochistan during 2025.
Miners’ organisations and labour representatives have repeatedly expressed concern over inadequate safety measures and recurring fatal accidents in the mines.
