The Balochistan government has dismissed 100 employees, including 95 university teachers, over alleged “anti-state activities” and blocked 16,367 online sites linked to an “anti-Pakistan narrative”, according to its home secretary.
Hamza Shafqaat disclosed the figures during a briefing at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta for journalists and television anchors visiting from Islamabad.
Shafqaat said authorities had identified 20,117 sites across social media platforms carrying “anti-state” material. Of those, 16,367, or 81.4%, had been blocked, he added.
The dismissed employees also included three health department officials and two other government workers, Shafqaat said, adding that cases against two more teachers were pending.
