Two separate attacks were reported in Quetta and Mastung on Sunday, targeting an airport facility and a police station, according to local sources and police officials.
In Quetta’s Ghaza Band area, armed individuals reportedly took control of an airport site before setting fire to the building, machinery and other equipment present at the facility.
Sources said the site, described as an old airport facility, was extensively damaged in the attack. No casualties were reported.
According to local sources, the airport is not fully operational but has reportedly been used by Pakistani forces on various occasions. No group had claimed responsibility for the incident at the time of publication, while authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the attack.
Separately, in Mastung, unidentified individuals carried out a grenade attack on a police station, injuring one police officer.
According to police, the attackers threw a hand grenade at the station, causing an explosion that was heard across the surrounding area. The injured officer was transferred to hospital for medical treatment. Further details regarding his condition were not immediately available.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of publication.
The incidents come amid a recent increase in attacks targeting Pakistani forces, police stations, government installations and infrastructure across several districts of Balochistan. In recent weeks, attacks have been reported in Mastung, Lasbela, Jhal Magsi, Noshki and other areas, with some attacks claimed by Baloch nationalist armed groups.
Mastung, in particular, has witnessed heightened tensions in recent months, including attacks on Pakistani forces, reported Pakistani drone strikes, military operations and temporary displacement orders affecting several local communities.
