The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks and armed operations carried out in several areas of Balochistan, alleging that 11 Pakistani military personnel and two alleged state-backed operatives were killed.
In a statement issued to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that on 22 August, the group’s fighters attacked a Pakistani military road security unit in the Kolwah-Gishkor area of Awaran. He claimed that five military personnel were killed and three others injured in the attack. The spokesperson further alleged that vehicles involved in road construction work were also targeted. According to the statement, BLF fighters later opened fire on a military helicopter that arrived in the area following the attack.
The spokesperson said that on the same day, BLF fighters took control of a police checkpoint in the Shirin-o-Farhad area of Jhaoo. He claimed that police personnel stationed at the checkpoint were detained, a Kalashnikov rifle and other equipment were seized, and the checkpoint, along with two police vehicles and a motorcycle, was set on fire. The detained personnel were later released, according to the statement.
The BLF also claimed that its fighters established a road blockade on the Bela-Jhaoo Road and stopped vehicles for inspection. During the operation, the group said it killed two men it described as members of a “state-backed death squad” after they allegedly attempted to flee. The statement identified them as Mohammad, son of Noor Mohammad, and his son Zafar, residents of Waja Bagh, Jhaoo. The group claimed to have seized weapons from them and set their motorcycle on fire.
The spokesperson made several allegations against Zafar, accusing him of involvement in criminal activities and cooperation with Pakistani military forces.
In another claimed operation on 22 August, BLF fighters reportedly established a temporary checkpoint on the main highway in the Daghari area near Quetta, where vehicles were searched. The group said it also fired at trucks transporting minerals, damaging their tyres.
The BLF further claimed that on 15 August its fighters detonated a remote-controlled explosive device targeting a military convoy vehicle in the Rodenjo area of Kalat. According to the statement, three military personnel were killed and two injured.
On the same day, the group said it opened fire on three bulldozers associated with military-linked construction projects in the Yakmachh area of Chagai, causing damage to the machinery.
The spokesperson also claimed that BLF fighters ambushed a military convoy in Surab on 13 August, killing three personnel and injuring two others.
In a separate incident, the group said it besieged and took control of a police station in the Jahin area of Parom on 4 August. According to the statement, police personnel were detained, weapons and equipment were seized, and the building was later set on fire before the detainees were released.
The BLF claimed responsibility for all of the above incidents and the reported casualties and property damage.
There was no immediate response from Pakistani authorities regarding the group’s allegations.
