Five men, including a Turkish national and a government contractor, have been released after being abducted in separate incidents in Balochistan’s Chagai and Kalat districts, authorities said.
Police confirmed that Turkish national Salih Gülcemal, who was abducted during an attack on a mining site in Chagai on April 22, had been released by his captors near Mastung.
Gülcemal was taken hostage after armed men attacked the mining site, destroyed machinery and opened fire on those present.
Ten people were killed in the assault, including another Turkish national.
Officials said Gülcemal had spoken to his family through a video call to assure them of his safety. Following the completion of legal and administrative formalities, he is expected to be handed over to the Turkish Consulate and reunited with his family in the coming days.
Separately, authorities confirmed the release of government contractor Mir Sanaullah Bahrani and his three guards, who were abducted during a highway blockade near Kalat on Tuesday.
Bahrani, a cousin of a member of the Balochistan Assembly, was travelling from Quetta when armed men stopped his vehicle and took the four men away.
Officials said Bahrani and his guards had since been safely released.
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of the releases.
