In the early hours of Wednesday and Thursday, unidentified militants launched a heavy assault on a Pakistani military camp and a reinforcement convoy in the Surab district of Balochistan.
According to local sources, the attack occurred in the Gidar area, where the armed individuals not only gained control of the military camp but also ambushed the incoming reinforcement convoy using remote-controlled explosives and a pre-planned ambush.
Sources report significant casualties among the security forces, though no official confirmation or denial has been issued by government authorities so far.
Three personnel have been confirmed dead in the attack: Lance Naik Wakeel, Naik Abdul Ghafoor, and Naik Zahoor. However, due to the intensity of the attack, it is believed that the actual number of fatalities may be higher.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at this time. Pakistani forces in Balochistan have previously been targeted in similar operations, with Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups having claimed responsibility for such attacks in the past. Further details regarding the recent incident are awaited.
