The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has stated that in Fazla Kach, Taunsa Sharif, the Border Military Police, also known as BMP, forcibly shut down a book fair organized under the Balochistan Kitab [Book] Caravan initiative. Students were reportedly harassed and threatened with serious consequences.

The committee highlighted that the Koh-e-Sulaiman region is already educationally backward, with minimal access to basic educational facilities. In this modern era, education – a fundamental right – remains inaccessible to the local population.

They further explained that the BMP force sabotaged previous attempts by Baloch Raj to run educational campaigns. Political activists were harassed, and meetings were raided. Now, when BSAC organized a book fair, the Political Assistant, Asad Chandia, ordered the local BMP force to shut down the stalls. BMP personnel reportedly harassed students, profiled them, and forcibly dismantled the book stalls, an open attack on education which deserves the strongest condemnation.

The BSAC stated that the Political Assistant, originally a position established during the British colonial era to exert influence over Baloch tribes, continues to impose oppressive policies on the people of Koh-e-Sulaiman. The current Political Assistant, Asad Chandia, is allegedly corrupt and implicated in smuggling and drug-related activities. He is accused of acting as a self-proclaimed overlord in the region. Whenever political or intellectual events are organized under the banner of the Baloch cause, the Political Assistant deploys the Border Military Police to suppress these activities, threatening ordinary people and political workers with severe retaliatory actions.

In conclusion, the BSAC has called upon all relevant authorities to recognize that the Balochistan Book Caravan is a movement for knowledge and awareness. Attempts to suppress this initiative are entirely anti-education policies. The BSAC has declared its resolve to resist such actions with full force.
