According to a statement by Iran’s Interior Minister, an attack in the troubled Sistan and Baluchestan region has left ten Iranian border guards dead. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday on Goherkoh Road in Taftan County, an area frequently marked by unrest and conflict.
Following the deaths, Iran’s Interior Minister swiftly assigned a team of police commanders and officials from the ministry to investigate the details of the attack.
The region of western Baluchestan, administered by Iran, has long been a hotspot for attacks and kidnappings, with militant groups frequently targeting Iranian forces. Jaish al-Adl, a group previously involved in several attacks against Iranian security personnel, has claimed responsibility for Saturday’s assault. The group released a brief statement acknowledging the attack, adding that a more detailed statement would be issued soon.
