A series of coordinated attacks across Balochistan targeted Pakistani military camps and forces during Pakistan’s “Independence Day” celebrations.

In the Zamuran area of Kech district, a large group of armed assailants attacked a Pakistani military camp. The attackers reportedly used rockets and other heavy weapons, causing significant damage.

Surveillance cameras installed near the camp were also destroyed. Local reports indicate there were casualties among the forces, but authorities have yet to provide specific details on the extent of the losses.

In a separate incident in the Nushki district of Balochistan, a bomb attack targeted a military checkpoint in the Zorabad area. Although there are reports of casualties, authorities have not yet released an official statement on the incident.

These incidents are part of a broader wave of armed attacks that has swept through Balochistan in recent days, coinciding with Pakistan’s “Independence Day” celebrations. No group has claimed responsibility for these specific attacks so far.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a “pro-independence” Baloch armed group, claimed responsibility for eleven attacks against Pakistani military forces in various locations across Kech, and Awaran districts.

In a statement to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that the group’s fighters targeted military camps and installations during Pakistan’s “Independence Day” celebrations between August 13 and 14, leading to significant casualties and financial losses.

In the Kech district, BLF fighters attacked military positions in several areas, including Sami Kalag, Hironk, Hoshap, and Kolwah. “In Sami Kalag, a military checkpoint was hit with heavy weapons, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to three others,” the spokesperson said.

In Hironk, two separate attacks reportedly killed two soldiers and injured another. In Hoshap, a military camp was assaulted with rockets and other weapons, leading to injuries among three soldiers and causing further financial losses. In the Madag-e-Kalat area of Kolwah, a sustained half-hour attack on a military camp reportedly resulted in one soldier being killed and three others injured.

Major Baloch added that in the Mashkay area of Awaran, BLF fighters targeted military checkpoints in Bondki, Oghar, Malsh-e-Band, and Thank. “These attacks, carried out with modern and heavy weapons, resulted in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to four others,” he said. Additional attacks were conducted in the Zankoli, Kaur Daat, and Kanira areas of Awaran, leading to the death of one soldier and injuries to four others.

Major Baloch emphasized that these attacks were a response to what the BLF perceives as the “forced and illegitimate celebrations of Pakistan’s Independence Day in Balochistan,” which he described as an “occupied territory.” He claimed that the widespread boycott of these events by the Baloch people, coupled with the attacks by Baloch “Sarmachars” (fighters), played a significant role in forcing the cancellation of many celebrations.

In his concluding remarks, the spokesperson reiterated that the BLF draws its strength from the support of the Baloch people and is committed to continuing its struggle until the “liberation of Balochistan” is achieved. He vowed that the BLF would intensify its operations to “avenge the blood of its martyrs and achieve the freedom of the region.”
