Negotiations between the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and the government continue as the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi’(Baloch National Gathering) sit-in enters its sixth day in Gwadar.

The BYC confirmed in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ that discussions have been ongoing for the past two days and that any agreements will be announced through their official channels.

The protesters have outlined several demands, including the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) for those killed and injured during the ‘Baloch National Gathering’ protests and the release of all individuals detained in connection with the demonstrations.

Additionally, they demand the withdrawal of all FIRs against participants, assurances that no protester will face harassment or legal action after the sit-in concludes, the reopening of all blocked roads, and the restoration of internet services.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Central Organizer of the BYC, rejected any form of compensation for those killed during the protests. She said, “Our martyrs’ blood is not for sale. The compensation for their sacrifice is our continued struggle and pursuit of national goals. We will not accept state compensation, nor seek it for treating our injured comrades.”

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee announced the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi’ on July 28 in Gwadar, Balochistan. However, a ‘brutal crackdown’ by state authorities to halt the gathering, which included the use of force and arrests, led the event to evolve into a sit-in protest. The protests have since spread throughout Balochistan, including rallies, shutdown strikes, and the closure of highways.
