In Dera Murad Jamali, a man shot and killed his wife and another man, continuing the tragic series of honor killings in Balochistan.

Details reveal that in Goth Muhammad Siddiq Maghiri, within the jurisdiction of Chattar Police Station in Dera Murad Jamali, a man, with the help of his accomplices, shot and killed his wife Reshma and a man named Ashiq Ali. The perpetrators fled the scene after the incident.

Police arrived at the scene and transported the bodies of the deceased woman and man to a civil hospital. A search for the suspects is ongoing.

The frequency of honor killings in Balochistan is becoming increasingly alarming. This month alone has witnessed five such incidents. Just a few days ago in Jhal Magsi, a man shot and injured his wife, while another person was killed in the same incident.

Similarly, in another incident earlier this month, a man shot and killed a woman named Mahmooda and a man named Sajid Ali in Dera Allah Yar, within the limits of Dera Allah Yar Police Station in the Gourmani Koth area.

Another case of honor killing was reported in Bolan Dhadar this month, where a woman(unidentified) and a man named Mithal Khan were shot and killed. In April of this year, three honor killing incidents occurred in Khuzdar, resulting in the deaths of three women and a young man.

In the first five months of this year, The Balochistan Post has received reports of six honor killing incidents from various districts in Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of 12 people, including five men and seven women.

According to a report by the Aurat Foundation, 324 cases of violence against women were reported in Balochistan over the past five years (2019 to 2023). During this period, 179 people, including women, were killed in the name of honor.
