Residents of Balochistan’s Chagai district have completely blocked the road near Nokundi Bab Umar in protest against abuses by Pakistani forces.
According to protesters, Pakistani forces poured sand into the engines of two local individuals’ vehicles on Thursday and forced them to stand barefoot on the hot sand, severely burning their feet.
Local residents stated that similar incidents have occurred in the past, where drivers’ vehicles were sabotaged, and their water bottles confiscated, leading to drivers dying of thirst.
They further appealed to human rights organizations to take notice of these actions by the Pakistani security forces. Additionally, a protest rally has been announced by the Baloch Yakjehthi Committee in Dalbandin at 5 PM today.
It is noteworthy that in April 2022, Pakistani Army personnel reportedly poured sand into the radiators of approximately 200 vehicles, removed their batteries, and abandoned the drivers in a desolate border area. There were also reports of drivers dying of thirst at that time.
