Two young men reportedly went missing from the Kech and Gwadar districts of Balochistan on Sunday. Additionally, one missing person was released.

Nizam Baloch, who was allegedly detained on May 9th by Pakistani forces from Gwadar district, was released on Monday after four days of detention.

However, while one missing person has been released, enforced disappearances continue unabated. According to reports, Pakistani forces allegedly forcibly arrested a young man from the Surbandan area of Gwadar district and moved him to an unknown location. The detainee has been identified as Mohsin Baloch, son of Raheem Baksh.

It should be noted that a search operation by forces in Gwadar has been ongoing for the past week, resulting in several detentions.

Five of the missing persons have been identified as Sameer, son of Hamza; Bilal, son of Raza Muhammad; Dur Muhammad, son of Kareem Baksh; Ameer, son of Aslam; and Amaan, son of Jamadar.

In another incident on Sunday around 7:00 PM, Pakistani forces allegedly forcibly arrested another young man named Adam, son of Soomar, a resident of Balgatar Lop, from Kech district.

Local sources indicate that the victim was the sole breadwinner of his family, engaged in the oil import business from Iran. The day before his abduction, upon returning from the border, state-sponsored armed groups, commonly referred to as “Death Squads” detained him.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies are alleged to be forming armed groups throughout Balochistan, commonly known as “Death Squads”.

Nationalist circles assert that these group are involved in detaining people across Balochistan and perpetrating other social evils, while the Pakistani authorities have allegedly granted them complete impunity to continue such crimes in the region.
