A young man was allegedly abducted by Pakistani forces from Turbat city of Kech district in Balochistan, on Monday night.

The abducted man has been identified as Wajid Sawali, a student at Turbat University. His family and friends have not heard from him since his arrest.

In response to his enforced disappearance, a large number of women staged a sit-in at Shaheed Fida Chowk, demanding his immediate release.

Enforced disappearances are a common practice in Balochistan, where more than 50,000 people have gone missing. The families of the victims and human rights groups accuse Pakistani forces and their intelligence agencies of running a ‘death squad’ that targets Baloch activists and civilians.
