Pakistani forces have reportedly forcibly disappeared at least two Baloch youths from Kharan and Gwadar, while an activist demanding an end to forced disappearances has been arrested in the Turbat area of Kech and released with signs of torture on his body.

According to reports, Pakistani forces and state-backed death squad personnel allegedly raided a house and forcibly disappeared a college student from the Nayabad area of Gwadar around 5.30 pm on Saturday.

The missing student has been identified as Mohsin Hasan son of Abul Hasan resident of Kumbil. Local sources told the TBP correspondent that the youth was abducted by Pakistani forces and local death squad operatives who were on board two corollas in Gwadar.

In another similar development, another youth was taken into custody, allegedly by Pakistan forces, and shifted to an undisclosed location in the Kharan district of Balochistan.

According to family sources, the youth has been identified as Ali Jan Samulani son of Master Huzur Bakhsh Samulani was taken into custody by the Pakistani forces during a house raid in Kali Tagzi Kharan around 3 AM on January 31. According to sources, Ali Jan Samlani belongs to a poor family and is a shopkeeper by profession.

The family expressed concern over the incident and asked the relevant authorities about the whereabouts of the youth. However, even after 5 days, his whereabouts are yet to be ascertained.

Similarly, activist Mohammad Yaqoob Joski was arrested during a sit-in protest in the Sami area of Kech for the recovery of “missing” Khuda Bakhsh.

According to the report, Mohammad Yaqoob Joski and Fazal Karim, the head of Haq-Do-Tehreek, were arrested at 4 pm on the ongoing sit-in against the non-recovery of Khuda Bakhsh missing on M-8 CPEC in Sami last night.

In a video message at the CPEC sit-in site, the women said, “At 4 o’clock in the night, we were attacked by the forces, women and children were tortured and Yaqoob Joski was arrested after being severely beaten up.”

According to sources, an FIR has been registered against Mohammad Yaqoob Joski. Later, Yaqoob Joski was shifted to the Teaching Hospital in Turbat, where there were severe signs of torture on his body.

Torture marks on Yaqoob Joski’s body

It’s pertinent to mention that enforced disappearances are not uncommon in Balochistan, as every day a young man faces a similar fate without trial or is killed in an alleged fake encounter. Currently, six families of Baloch missing persons are protesting by blocking the M-8 CPEC highways from two different places for the safe recovery of their loved ones.
