According to data from The Balochistan Post’s Data Visual Studio in the third quarter of 2023, 826 families have been affected by 250 road accidents in Balochistan.
Road accidents are continuously being reported in Balochistan, many people lose their lives, in these accidents while a large number of people get cripply injured.
According to the third quarter report of the year, traffic accidents have further increased in the last three months.
The data shows that at least 224 people lost their lives and 602 people were injured in these road accidents. Among the most affected areas, 36 accidents were reported in Khuzdar, 31 accidents in Quetta, 29 in Mastung, 22 in Bolan, and 16 in Hub Chowki while 15 road accidents were reported in Gwadar, 10 in Zhob, 9 in Loralai, and 6 in Washuk.
The main reasons behind deadly accidents in Balochistan are overloading, poor visibility, lack of proper training of drivers and lack of driving license, high speed, negligence, lack of sleep due to long journeys, and drug use. Narrow and single roads, unavailability of road safety, and navigation are also included while reportedly there are no traffic engineers in Balochistan.
