Balochistan’s population has surged beyond 21.5 million, as revealed by the recently completed seventh digital census. Balochistan’s capital Quetta is now home to over 2.822 million residents.

These figures were provided by Balochistan’s Census Commissioner, Noor Ahmed Pirkani, during a private television interview. Mr. Pirkani confirmed the completion of the digital census, which commenced on 1 March, tracking Balochistan’s demographic growth.

“Balochistan’s population now stands at more than 21.5 million, with Quetta alone accounting for over 2.822 million,” Mr. Pirkani noted.

Additional data from Madrasahs, hostels, police stations, and government buildings across Quetta are being fed into the system. This could result in a potential increase of approximately 300,000 individuals in Quetta’s current population. Pirkani assured that this data incorporation process will be completed within the next 15 days.

Significant population growth has also been observed in the districts of Khuzdar, Kech, and Pishin, marking a wider trend of expansion across Balochistan, Mr. Pirkani added.

“The results of the census will be formally presented to the federal government by 1 June. Following their acceptance, the process of new electoral constituency delimitation will commence,” Mr. Pirkani concluded.”
