The news of the resignation of Maulvi Hidayatullah Badri, known as Maulvi Gul Agha, who is considered to be the main leader of the Taliban, has been circulating in the media for the last few days.

Rehmatullah Nabeel, the intelligence chief of the former Afghan government, wrote in a series of tweets in this regard that Taliban chief Sheikh Haibatullah has withdrawn 60 billion from the Afghan Ministry of Finance in the last one year for his close people, relatives and loyalists, which is 50 percent of the tax collected by customs.

Nabeel claimed in his tweet that the Finance Minister demanded the return of the money through the bank, which Sheikh Haibatullah rejected and ordered to pay the amount in cash.

Sheikh Haibatullah, who the Taliban consider their Amir-ul-Momineen, is believed to have started building a separate force of 40,000 for himself and established its center in Kandahar.

Some sources also allege that Sheikh Haibatullah is trying to buy the loyalty of tribal figures and powerful war commanders.

When TBP contacted some Taliban leaders and journalists based in Kandahar to verify Rehmatullah Nabil’s claims, they said on the condition of anonymity that all these news are based on reality.

Complaints about Sheikh Haibatullah’s hardline behavior are now becoming common in the Taliban’s inner circles, especially regarding the ban on girls’ education beyond 6th grade.
