The Inter-Services Public Relations claimed in a media statement on Thursday that the Pakistani forces had killed eight alleged “militants” in a security operation in Balochistan’s Kech. However, local sources say the levies forces found the eight dead bodies at the headquarters of Pakistani forces in Turbat, indicating that they were killed inside the compound and not out in the mountains.

Pakistani military’s media wing said the alleged “militants” were attempting to ambush a convoy of Pakistani forces but were foiled. In a follow-up operation, the “militants” were cornered and killed by the Pakistani forces on February 22, the statement said. The ISPR said it had identified a “terrorist hideout” in the Mazaaband Range where a sanitization operation was launched, resulting in the death of the “militants.

The ISPR said it had confiscated a large cache of weapons and explosives from the alleged “militants.”

According to the local sources in Kech, the Pakistani security forces handed over eight dead bodies to the levies forces. The dead bodies were found inside the forces’ headquarters. If true, this raises questions over ISPR’s earlier statement, which claimed they were “militants” who were killed in a confrontation.

It is pertinent to mention that rights groups, political activists and Baloch nationalist circles accuse the Pakistani forces of framing innocent Baloch missing persons on false charges and killing them in fake encounters.
