According to media sources, internet services have been restored by the authorities in the port city of Gwadar after ten days, which was blocked to stop spreading the news and videos of the government’s crackdown on protesters of Haq Do Tehreek (Give Rights Movement).

Internet services were shut down by the officials in Gwadar in the last days of the previous year after the security forces launched an operation against Haq Do Tehreek protesters who were involved in blocking the main roads in the city to continue their sit-in protest against the illegal trawling, security forces’ check posts, and other primary issues.

It is to be noted, the leader of the Haq Do Movement, Hussain Wadela along with 25 other political activists and protesters have been arrested and shifted to jail by the police after the crackdown started against the movement at the end of the previous year. As per the prominent leader of Haq Do, Hidayat-ul-Rehman, hundreds of their members have been jailed and detained by the police after the crackdown against their peaceful sit-in protest.

On Wednesday, the leaders of the Haq Do Movement, Hussain Wadala, Yaqoob Jusaki, and Shabbir Rind along with several other activists were shifted to Quetta from Gwadar in tight security by authorities to avoid any public reaction on their way.

At least, one police constable and a protester lost their lives during the protests and crackdown by the security officials. The government blamed leaders of the Haq Do movement for the killing of a police constable. While the protesters categorically rejected the claim and blamed security forces for being involved in the killing of the policeman and a protester in Ormara. Both sides have blamed each other for their losses which have not been independently verified yet.
