A woman was shot dead inside her house in Hub Chowki city of Balochistan, on Sunday.

According to police, the woman was working in the house when armed men entered the house and opened fire. As as a result, the woman died on the spot.

Police sources said the cause of the murder may have been a family quarrel. The accused involved in the murder have fled the scene and the police are searching for them.

As soon as the incident was reported, the police rushed to the spot and moved the body to the hospital where the body was handed over to the next of kin after necessary procedures.

It may be recalled that incidents of domestic violence and honour killings of women have been frequently reported in Balochistan, while very few of those involved have been brought to justice by law enforcement agencies.

According to statistics, more than a thousand women are killed in Pakistan every year, most of them in the name of honour.
