A literary festival organized by the Baloch Students Action Committee in Khuzdar wrapped up on Monday. The participants commended the efforts of the organizers in arranging such a program. The festival consisted of several segments, including a musical segment, mushaira, art exhibition, stage drama and a panel discussion. Baloch artists participated in the program in great numbers and presented their art pieces to an awe-struck audience. Musicians and poets entranced the gathering with their melodies and poetic verses. A panel of scholars discussed the role of language in the national upbringing and the organizers ended the festival with a short note of gratitude to all the participants.

BSAC spokesperson was grateful that the Khuzdar Educational and Literary Festival was successfully organized and conducted. He said that the program had reinvigorated the political, literary and creative spirits of the masses and dispersed the gloom that had overshadowed Khuzdar for so long. The spokesperson said that BSAC had organized similar programs in Taunsa Sharif, Hub Chowki and Liyari to cultivate and hone the creative spirits of the Baloch students.

The first segment of the literary festival was a panel discussion on the role of language in shaping a society. The segment was moderated by committee member Ejaz Baloch and Prof. Ali Gohar, and poets Bari Ajo and Shakir Shad were the speakers. The speakers discussed the various problems facing Balochi and Brahvi languages today and suggested potential solutions to many of the issues.

The next segment, titled “Youth Leadership”, was moderated by Hairbiyar Baloch while Secretary-General Asif Baloch, Deputy Secretary Rafiq Baloch and committee member Samiya Baloch were the panellists. The speakers addressed a sundry of issues facing the Baloch students today and discussed the historical background of student politics and youth leadership in Balochistan. The panel also focused on how the current student politics can be broadened and diversified in the future.

Prof. Ali Gohar, Shakir Shad and several Baloch students participated in the mushaira segment, which was chaired by poet Bari Ajo. The students had also organized a stage drama on the legendary tale of Balach Gorgej that attracted applauds the spectators. In the final segment of the literary festival, speaker Sultana Baloch addressed the current situation of education in district Khuzdar and Advocate Imran Baloch spoke on politics.

A musical segment was organized for the participants’ entertainment where Baloch artists Jumma Khan and Mubarak Dad showcased their creative skills.

The festival ended with a short note from the organizers of the event who thanked the participants and vowed that this tradition will be maintained in the future.
