Local oil traders from Gwadar city of Balochistan have been reportedly harassed and their goods were confiscated by the personnel of Pakistan Guards.

According to sources, locals of Makran region including Gwadar, use land and sea routes to bring their necessities from Iran–however, they complain that Pakistani forces are constantly confiscating their goods.

The border trade has been the only source of income for Baloch people living on the both sides of the border for centuries. Locals claim that the Coast Guards have restricted their businesses by operating at the Kantani border. They also say that the closure of the Kantani border has caused great suffering to the people, that locals have been deprived of jobs. Residents demanded that the oppression by security forces must end immediately.

The head of the Haq Do Tehreek, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, condemned the use of force by Coast Guards’ personnel at Kantani border and said they should change their approach.

As per reports, locals will carry out protests and rallies against the incident, on March 30.
