Pakistan has asked UNSC’s help to hold “masterminds” of Panjgur and Noshki attacks accountable and stop attacks from Afghanistan.

Pakistan has asked the United Nations Security Council to help stop attacks on Pakistani soil from Afghanistan and hold the “masterminds” of the recent Panjgur and Noshki attacks accountable. Pakistan raised the issue before the UNSC after India accused it of sponsoring terrorism in Kashmir.

According to the details, Pakistani representative Umer Siddique urged the UN Security Council to ensure that the Afghan soil was not used for launching attacks on Pakistan. Siddique accused the Indian involvement in the alleged cross-border attacks in different areas of Balochistan.

It is to mention that the twin attacks in Panjgur and Noshki districts of Balochistan were carried out by an ethnic “pro-independence” group, the Baloch Liberation Army. The group is fighting for the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan. Currently it’s the 5th insurgency underway in the region for at least two decades. According to Baloch nationalists, they have been struggling to get their land back since its “illegal occupation” by Pakistan in 1948.

“We all know who has been supporting and financing” terror groups like the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA),” Siddique said.

Pakistan brought the issue before the UNSC after India accused it on Monday of sponsoring terrorism in Kashmir. Indian representative Rajesh Parihar indirectly blamed Pakistan for encouraging extremism in the region. He cited the 2016 Pathankot incident and the 2019 Pulwama incident to make his point.

Pakistan has blamed India for sponsoring militancy in Balochistan and Afghanistan for housing the Baloch “pro-independence” leaders on its soil. But so far, it has failed to produce any substantial evidence to support its claims.
