The Balochistan High Court has reportedly dropped the cases regarding the enforced disappearances of Zakir Majeed and Rashid Hussain, two Baloch missing persons. The high court also dropped the cases of Jameel Ahmed Sarparra, a missing person, and Mama Qadeer Baloch, who is on Pakistan’s Exit Control List (ECL) which makes it impossible for him to leave the country.

According to the details, the high court ordered a committee formed by the provincial government to further investigate the said cases. The verdict was given by high court judges Muhammad Hashim Kakar and Nazeer Ahmed Khan.

The families of the missing persons have expressed disappointment in the high court’s verdict, saying that the court has suddenly dropped the cases that we have been fighting for years. They said that all the missing persons’ families will resort to the Supreme Court of Pakistan for justice.

Activist Farida Baloch, the sister of missing Rashid Hussain, said that judge responsible for the verdict has been biased misogynistic towards the families of the missing persons: he had once told the women to shut up and sit in their homes. Farida Baloch said that despite the substantial evidence, the high court has prolonged the cases. She said that the families will never back off until their loved ones are recovered.
