Taliban has taken the control of Kabul as Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country.

The head of the Afghan National Reconciliation Council, Abdullah Abdullah said “Ashraf Ghani has gone out of the country, he left Afghanistan in a hard time”.

According to Reuters’ report, a senior interior ministry official said “Ghani has left the Kabul for Tajikistan.” There are unconfirmed reports that Ghani resigned from the post of president before leaving the country.

Whereas, the President office didn’t say anything about Ghani’s departure, saying it “cannot say anything about Ashraf Ghani’s movement for security reasons”.

As per the reports, Taliban fighters have been asked by the leadership to enter Kabul and take control of the security of the federal capital. The Afghan police and other law enforcement agencies abandoned their check posts and returned their homes.

The Taliban surrounded Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan on Sunday. They asked the central government and Afghan forces to surrender unconditionally.

The Interior Minister of Afghanistan said that Kabul would not be attacked and that there would be a swift and peaceful transition of power. The Taliban have announced amnesty in the entire country and directed Taliban fighters not to enter in any home.
