In capital city Quetta, the nurses staged a protest demonstration against persistent delay in payment of their salaries, on Tuesday. Police stopped the protestors from entering the red zone area of the city.

While talking to the, protestors said media that government has stopped our salaries. Dozens of female nurses staged the protest demonstration outside the office of the Commissioner Quetta Division.

The protesters chanted slogans against the government for not issuing their contract orders. “Despite life risk, we performed our duties during the COVID19 outbreak”, a female protestor said.

However, the officials said the directorate of the health department has issued orders to 93 nurses. “We have no problem in issuing orders but remaining documents were not authentic”, the Director-General of Health Balochistan said.

The administration deployed baton-wielding policemen to stop the protesters from entering the red zone of the city. The administration also arrested five office-bearers of the nursing association. Police shifted them to the civil line police station.

The protesting nurses refused to end their protest despite repeated requests by the administration officials. “We want orders and payment of salaries”, another protesting nurse said. “The protest would continue till acceptance of their demands, she added.

While on Tuesday, Residents of Pasni city of district Gwadar protested against load-shedding and no water supply. Protesters blocked the main highway for traffic near Zero Point.

Locals have been protesting against the unavailability of water and electricity for the last several days. Protestors included women and children who went on strike.

According to the protestors, the basic necessities of life in the area have disappeared. They criticised the deputy Commissioner of the area and high authorities. “The officials are not interested in solving the problems of the area”, they said. 

The locals said, despite the floods filled Shadikor Dam and Shadikor Pasni, but we had to pass Eid festival without water.

The residents of Gwadar city and farmers from Naseerabad region of Balochistan also came on the roads to protest the water shortage.
