The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organized a massive demonstration on Friday in Quetta against the abduction of Bahadur Ali Kiazai. Huge number of women and children including political and social workers, rights activists and students, took to the roads, chanting slogans, carrying banners and demanding immediate release of Bahadur Ali Kiaza.

Friday’s demonstration was organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, a social group advocating for various social reforms in Balochistan. The participants were primarily women and children including the family of Bahadur Ali Kiazai.

Addressing the protesters, Baloch student leader Dr Mahrang Baloch said, if today’s protest was by another nation, a huge media presence would be seen and the protest would receive huge coverage. Unfortunately Baloch issues have always been ignored by the electronic and print media.

She said that the attitude of state and media ignorance towards the Baloch nation has shown that agonies and traumas are only left in our destiny.

Mahrang Baloch further said, someone’s father, brother and husband have been missing for decades in Balochistan, but no one has a clue about the whereabouts of the victims or their crimes.

Mahrang Baloch categorically denied the government’s claim that the “missing persons” issue had been resolved. She said if one missing person has resurfaced in Balochistan, dozens more become victims of enforced disappearances, no one speaks about these abduction.

“Enforced disappearances must be classified as a crime, why Pakistani state is hesitant to sign the UN’s resolution to make enforced disappearances a crime,” she asked.

On the other hand another case of enforced disappearances was reported in Kech district of Balochistan.

According to sources Pakistani forces abducted nine people during an operation, seven of the abductees have been released whereas two of them still remain missing.

One of the abducted persons has been identified as Talal s/o Chairman Dost.

Sources have confirmed the above-mentioned persons were whisked away by the security forces during a military operation from Gomazai area of district Kech on May 23rd.

It is to be noted that Talal Baloch had been previously abducted allegedly by the security forces in May 2018. He was released after a month of enforced disappearance.

Talal Baloch’s father and a brother Tahir Baloch were also abducted allegedly by the security forces on 22nd of May 2017, while travelling to Karachi. Their dead bodies were found after three days of abduction.
