The employees ended their 12 day long protest after government assurance and court orders, on Friday.

According to reports, the Grand Employees Alliance (GEA) called off agitation after the assurance by the Balochistan government for acceptance of employees’ demands. The protesting employees staged a sit-in for 12 days and blocked all roads leading towards the Red Zone.

“We have decided to end the agitation after assurance by the government”, Malik Kakar, the GEA leader told the protesters. The GEA leaders held thorough negotiations with the government committee for solutions to employees’ problems. Court has assured us for acceptance of our demands, Mr. Kakar announced.

The protesting teachers also announced to end the boycott of Matric Examinations.

Teachers staged a boycott of matric examinations on Friday. Habib ur Rehman Mardanzai, the leader of the Government Teachers Association Balochistan held a meeting with education minister Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind. “Teachers should perform their exam duties tomorrow”, Mr. Mardanzai announced after the meeting.

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) directed the government employees to end the protest on Friday. A division bench of the BHC comprising Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Jamal Mandokhail, and Mr. Justice Kamran Malakhail asked the employees to bring an end to the ongoing protest.

Advocate General Balochistan, Arbab Tahir Kasi, leaders of the GEA appeared before the court, on Friday. The court also directed the government to take action against the absent teachers.
