A Sindhi activist against enforced disappearances has been abducted from Lahore on Thursday evening.

Sanaullah Aman, a rights activist was arrested from Lahore and subsequently shifted to an undisclosed location. According to his family, the armed men were accompanied by a Punjab police vehicle.

According to the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS), Sanaullah Aman has been forcibly disappeared by the state agencies.

According to Sorth Lohar, the convener of the VMP- Sindh, activist Sanaullah Aman has been arrested and disappeared by state agencies. Sanaullah was an effective voice for missing persons from Sindh and is a student in Islamabad University.

The VMPS said in a statement that if Sanaullah Aman is not recovered by state agencies or if he is harmed, the government would be held responsible and protests would be staged against the enforced disappearance of the Sindhi activist.

Sanaullah Aman was residing in Islamabad for education and he has been raising voice for the enforced disappearances in Islamabad, Karachi and other cities of Sindh and Balochistan. Punjab police has not provided any details of Aman’s arrest and disappearance.

Enforced disappearances have been frequently reported from Sindh. Among those missing from Sindh are nationalist activists and those who have been participating in protests for the recovery of missing persons.

Rangers and intelligence agencies have been accused of enforced disappearances from Sindh by Sindhi nationalist parties and human rights groups, but such allegations have been denied by the authorities.
