The sister of missing Shabir Baloch in the hunger strike camp of VBMP (Voice for Baloch Missing Persons) held a press conference on Saturday, in Quetta city.

She said to the media; I Seema Baloch, compelled to go here and there, sometimes telling my painful story in front of the Karachi Press Club and sometimes telling the story of my family’s troubled life to the journalists of Quetta and Islamabad, Sometimes in the courts and sometimes in front of higher authorities, I can be seen begging for my brother’s recovery, but today, for three and a half years, we have been tried to kept muted by giving only false consolations, but justice has not been served till date.

She said, that the pain of losing a brother, a husband and a father is felt by those whose loved ones are missing without any sin and are forced to live inhuman lives in dark cells for many years, and the whole family is forced to live in a painful awaiting. Every person in Balochistan is suffering from this problem. Sami, Mahlab, Hasiba, Zarina and many such daughters and sons are waiting for their loved ones but they don’t get anything, they only get false consolations and pain.

According to Seema Baloch, her brother Shabbir Baloch was disappeared on 4 October 2016 from Turbat Gwarkop, in front of his wife, Zarina Baloch, and residents of the town. Today, Shabbir Baloch’s abduction completes 3 and half years. She said that we have expressed during every protest, press conference that Shabir Baloch should be brought to light and action should be taken in accordance with the constitution and the law. If Shabir Baloch is found guilty, he should be punished according to the law. But it is a violation of the Constitution of Pakistan to make people disappear and it is violation of the law to not present the missing persons in the courts for years.

She said, that despite the assurance of Jam Kamal, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, my brother was not brought to light and we were told to end the protest and go home, he (Shabbir) will be released but to this day we are not aware of his whereabouts.

She added, “I seema Baloch through this press conference appeal to the PM Imran Khan, Supreme Court of Pakistan, and other higher institutions that Shabbir Baloch should be brought to the light, if he is alive, let us meet him and if he has been killed, let us know so that we should stop looking for him.

The missing persons issue in Balochistan is noticeable. According to rights and political organisations of Balochistan; around 47, 000 Baloch leaders, political workers, teachers, journalists and other activists are forcefully disappeared by Pakistani forces.
