When Sajid Hussain entered into his consciousness, the waves of the novel Baloch movement had reached to every corner of Balochistan. We saw the difference in this movement in every aspect as compare to the previous Baloch movements in terms of new methods, completely changed political line-up and with youngest and non-tribal leadership.

Wherever national liberation movements rise, the youth with emotional attachment join the movement. In 2000s, when the Baloch movement resumed, thousands of Baloch youth without political and ideological consciousness became attached with different outlets of the movement, particularly in student organizations, only on the basis of their emotional attachments.

Many of them, the frontline workers in particular, were enforcedly disappeared and extra judicially killed by the state of Pakistan. Hundreds of them went to Arab countries where they became unable to continue their struggle, and others took refuge in European countries. Several of non-ideological workers surrendered and many others remained silent. But the ideologically strong ones not only continued their struggle but also led the movement to an ideological direction.

There was a cognitive political and mature circle in Baloch Students Organization-Azad (BSO-Azad), and Sajid Hussain was one of the participants of such circles of Azad.

I was introduced to Sajid Hussain in 2008. It was the time when he had freshly completed his career from the students’ politics and had entered into the profession of journalism. By that time, I had heard from many of my friends that Sajid was one of the intellectual figures in the Central Committee of BSO-Aazd. That time I had a wish to have a political and literary get-together with Sajid Hussain for enlightening myself in these fields.

Since 2008, he had been engaged with professional journalism. He is one of the brave and brilliant journalists of the contemporary era. Sajid’s writings are very impressive. By now, he has written several blogs. One of them was about Haji Abdul Razaq; his journalist friend and political colleague. The blog was entitled ‘The Evolution of a Dead Body’. It was one of my favorite pieces by him.
A.R Dad, the famous Baloch short historian and poet, said that “Sajid’s short stories are brilliant pieces in Balochi literature.”

In 2012, when Balochistan’s situation became life-threatening for Sajid Hussain, he left his motherland. But as a professional journalist he never left journalism. After migration, he faced extremely tough conditions in terms of finances, self-security and social pressure.

During his exile Sajid started an online media outlet, which is known as ‘The Balochistan Times’ and made himself affiliated with some international media outlets as well. That was the moment I felt that Sajid is the only professional journalist from the Baloch society working at the international level.

The day came when Sajid completed his very hard days and finally reached in Sweden. He settled there and started his hard productive work again very soon. In Sweden, Sajid became engaged with productive projects like documentation of the Baloch missing persons’ cases, Balochi language projects with Professor Karina Jahani, projects of journalism along with his writings. He also got admission in Master degree program in Upsalla University Sweden.

A man living abroad could choose to live in peace for his personal gains, but Sajid Hussain chose to work for the collective interests of the Baloch people by creating such productive projects despite facing tough times. A man like Sajid is not gem for the world of journalism only but also one of the great ‘Baloch assets’.

Dear Baloch people! Kindly stand up and raise your voices for the safety of your asset, if you do not, then you should know that you are going to lose one of the brilliant assets of yours. You already have lost several of your great assets. Your enemy has developed the policy to ‘Search and Kill’ the Baloch intellectual assets.

You have already lost brilliant assets like Professor Saba Dastyari, Zahid Kurd, Master Ali Jan, Haji Razaq, Qamber Chakar, Ustad Aslam and lots of others in this list.

Dear Baloch people! Protect your assets please, because lives of such assets are extremely valuable and important for the present and future of the Baloch people. Such assets do not live for their personal interests only, but particularly for the collective interests of the Baloch people. I request the Baloch people living in Balochistan and abroad to protect your national assets by raising your voice for their safety.
