An Innocent Question

Author: Simran Baloch

“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day:” E.B. White

It’s been two months since I became a part of this organization called BSO, abbreviates as Baloch Students Organization, which has nowadays gained popularity, everyone knows why.

I came to know about this organization two years ago, but I recently joined it without any fear and persistence.

I observed and felt that I need to join this organization because I believe in a peaceful environment and profoundly against any type of terror; Peaceful activism is the right of every individual, however, it is the duty of any politician and a student to speak up against the wrongdoings of state, no matter what the circumstances are. In my view, remaining silent would constitute one to be of the torment.

Let’s come to the point, the main reason for writing this piece was to make your minds clear from the wrong perceptions of Baloch Students Organization.

Spreading awareness should be everyone’s task not only of mine or yours. I myself oppose illegal and unconstitutional activities, I never promoted such activities nor I prefer anyone else to do so. BSO is a peaceful organization that spreads political awareness among the students to encourage them, so that they could speak for their academic rights and to groom them. Baloch Students Organization would not stay silent on anything illegal happening around them.

Till now, I have observed that the state is getting rude towards such students organizations and being a student, I strongly condemn this type of behaviour. The State should itself have provided grounds to the students to groom themselves rather silencing them. What message is being conveyed to us? Can it be called an independent and democratic state where students are threatened and forced to stay silent?

It’s just an innocent question. Enforced disappearances in Balochistan have disappointed, and dreaded the students. It has caused distress and grief to the affected families. It had made me speak up for the abducted ones.

I, being a student, demand the safe release of leaders of Baloch Students Organization: Zareef Rind, Changez Baloch, Aurangzaib Baloch, Jiand Baloch, Hasnain Baloch and other missing persons. If they are guilty then produce them in front of the courts and prove the allegations, but illegal abductions will cause chaos, nothing else.

“While searching for their destiny of nothing, but dried leaves and a handful of dust. How many budding flowers have been lost in the beds of the Orchids,” Zehra Nigah.
