It is pertinent to mention that Baloch students and political parties have protested many times against the prohibition of celebrating Baloch culture day.
In 2009, a Baloch culture program was attacked with hand grenades in Engineering University of Khuzdar, in which 2 students lost their lives while many received injuries.
Baloch nationalists accuse Baloch Musallah Defah (BMD), a death squad group allegedly running under the supervision of Pakistani intelligence agencies, being behind the attack in 2009. The group is allegedly led by Shafeeq Mengal.
