The sanctions imposed by United States against China over military cooperation with Russia, are a gross violation of the principles of international relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Friday.

Shuang also urged the US to immediately lift the new sanctions against Beijing otherwise Washington will have to bear the consequences.

China has made a representation to the US States over the sanctions.

US officials said it was the first time a third country has been punished under the CAATSA sanctions legislation for dealing with Russia.

Whereas Moscow also lashed out on Friday at Washington’s new sanctions on Russia.

“Washington is rocking global stability. It would be good for them to remember there is such a concept as global stability which they are thoughtlessly undermining by whipping up tensions in Russian-American ties,” Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

US officials said that the US could consider similar action against other countries taking delivery of Russian fighter jets and missiles.
