At least 17 people have been arrested by Pakistani security forces in Dera Bugti.

According to details received by The Balochistan Post, at least 17 people were arrested and taken away from two localities of Dera Bugti. The arrests were made during military raids in Sangseela and Toba Nauhaqani.

Along with regular Army, paramilitary forces Frontier Corps and local Levies forces also took part in the raids.

Local sources accused that local death squads ‘run by a former provincial minister’ of Balochistan were also involved in the raids.

On other hand the media wing of Pakistani military, ISPR, released a media statement and claimed that 17 people were apprehended in the raids. ISPR claimed that the arrested were ‘miscreants’ and arms and ammunitions were also seized during the raids.

However, these claims could not be verified from independent sources.

The raids were carried out on the death anniversary of prominent Baloch leader and head of Bugti tribe, Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, who was martyred in a military operation this day in 2006.
