Pakistani forces and members of an alleged state-backed armed group suffered casualties in a clash with armed fighters in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, while a vehicle carrying supplies to a military camp was seized during a separate roadblock in Khuzdar, local sources said.
In Panjgur, armed fighters blockaded Tasp Star Chowk from 11 p.m. on Sunday until 2 a.m. on Monday. Local sources said Pakistani forces and members of a local armed group, described as a state-backed “death squad”, attempted to advance into the area, triggering a fierce clash.
The sources said several members of the armed group were killed or wounded and identified three of the injured as Hamza, Tauseef and Deedag. The men were taken to hospital.
The numbers of those killed and wounded on either side remained unconfirmed.
Meanwhile, armed fighters blockaded the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway in Khuzdar’s Karkh tehsil for several hours and searched passing vehicles. Sources said they seized a vehicle carrying supplies to a Pakistani military camp and detained its driver.
No group had claimed responsibility for the roadblocks, the Panjgur clash or the seizure of the vehicle at the time of reporting.
Military Confirms Major’s Death in Pasni
The incidents come as Pakistan’s military on Monday confirmed that Major Wajahat Waheed, 34, was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Shadi Kaur, near Pasni in Gwadar district.
The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said a contingent led by the major was targeted during clearance operations in the area.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility on Sunday, saying seven military personnel, including Major Wajahat, were killed when its fighters targeted a convoy.
