Haq Do Tehreek leader and Balochistan Assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman has accused former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri of patronising those involved in the killing of Master Inayatullah Jattak, father of Asma Jattak.
Speaking in the Balochistan Assembly, Hidayat-ur-Rehman said the killers of Inayatullah Jattak, who was shot dead in Khuzdar a day earlier, were being protected by Zehri, the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Balochistan president.
He said that after Asma Jattak’s abduction, her maternal uncle was killed, followed by others who raised their voices against the abductors, and now her father had also been killed.
Hidayat-ur-Rehman questioned why the accused were not being named and why police had failed to register an FIR or make arrests.
“Who exactly is this powerful group? Why is it not being named?” he said, adding that the SSP, DIG and IG had failed to act despite repeated killings.
He alleged that those involved in the killings and abductions were operatives of Sanaullah Zehri and took shelter at his residence after carrying out the attacks.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party should also respond, as Zehri heads the party in Balochistan and is part of the government.
Hidayat-ur-Rehman said tribal chiefs and nawabs in Balochistan were involved in killings and abductions while enjoying the support of major political parties and the establishment.
He demanded the suspension and imprisonment of the DIG, SSP and IG for failing to take action, and said Zehri should be arrested if found guilty, regardless of his influence.
Sanaullah Zehri, the Pakistan Peoples Party and Balochistan government officials had not issued a response to the allegations at the time of publication.
