The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for multiple ‘tactical operations’ in the Chagai and Mashkay regions of Balochistan, according to a statement issued to the media by the group’s spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch.
The statement said that on Saturday, June 29, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM, BLF fighters established a tactical road blockade on the Quetta-Taftan Highway (N-40) in the sensitive strategic zone of Padag, Gok Aap, in Chagai district. The group reportedly set up a controlled checkpoint where vehicles were thoroughly searched.
During the blockade, the statement said, a vehicle belonging to the Customs Department was stopped, and its occupants were taken into custody. The fighters allegedly recovered a Kalashnikov rifle and a 9mm pistol from their possession.
According to the spokesperson, after what was described as a “preliminary intelligence interrogation,” all individuals, including a non-local operative, were released under what the group referred to as “humanitarian protocol.”
In a separate development, the statement claimed that another group of BLF fighters carried out a raid on the Koh Chuki Levies Station, located nearby. During this operation, BLF reportedly took custody of Levies personnel and seized official weapons. The group claimed it disabled the physical infrastructure of the station using pyrotechnic sabotage. It further stated that duty officers were released on the condition that they would refrain from harassing local residents and drivers in the future.
The BLF spokesperson also said that on June 28, the group targeted a motorcycle in a convoy allegedly operated by a state-backed proxy network in the Gorkai area of Mashkay, based on intelligence provided by its internal wing. An improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the attack, resulting in the death of one individual on the spot and serious injuries to another, the statement said.
The deceased was identified as Khair Bakhsh s/o Ashraf Muhammad Hasni, while the injured was named as Gul Muhammad s/o Faqir Ahmad. According to the statement, Khair Bakhsh was a key operative in the state-sponsored paramilitary network operating in Awaran, particularly in Mashkay. The group also claimed that his father, Ashraf, also an alleged state operative, was killed in 2017 in a sniper operation carried out by BLF fighters.
The network, the statement alleged, has been directly involved in recent counterinsurgency operations, enforced disappearances, and targeted killings in the Mashkay region.
The BLF concluded its statement by formally claiming responsibility for the operations in both Chagai and Mashkay. It assured the Baloch people, through the media, that it would continue to confront and eliminate all elements and forces it considers hostile to the Baloch nation.
