The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said on Friday that its fighters briefly took control of Bhag city in Balochistan’s Kachhi district during a pre-dawn operation, killing five Pakistani military personnel, attacking police stations and setting fire to several government buildings.
In a media statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the operation began at around 5 a.m., when fighters entered the city, surrounded a Pakistani military camp and launched an intense attack using heavy weapons.
“They took control of the city and surrounded the camp of the occupying Pakistani forces from all sides,” Dostain Baloch said.
The spokesperson claimed that five military personnel were killed and several others injured, while BRG fighters also shot down two military quadcopters.
He said another unit attacked the City Police Station, causing casualties and material damage, adding that the fighters also took control of the Sadar Police Station, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office, Assistant Commissioner’s Office, National Bank and several other government buildings, set them on fire and confiscated equipment from the premises.
Dostain Baloch alleged that Pakistani forces opened fire on civilians during the operation, injuring several people. He said the BRG fighters withdrew safely after completing the operation.
He added that such operations would continue until what the BRG described as the “complete independence of Balochistan”.
Pakistani authorities had not commented on the BRG’s claims at the time of publication.
