The body of a young man who was reportedly forcibly disappeared has been recovered from Panjgur district in Balochistan. His family sources allege that he was killed while in custody by Pakistani security forces.
According to reports, the victim, Sameer, son of Sabzal, a resident of Tasp, was abducted from his home by Pakistani security forces on May 1, and no information about his whereabouts was available for several days. The news of his disappearance was also reported by TBP last week. Eight days later, his body was discovered in the desolate area of Bali Soraap in Panjgur, bearing clear signs of torture.
According to local sources, Sameer was tortured and killed during custody, and his body was subsequently dumped in a remote area.
Incidents of enforced disappearances and custodial killings are not new in Balochistan. Over the past several years, thousands of young people have gone missing from various parts of the region, with many of their bodies later found in deserted areas.
Human rights organizations have consistently condemned these incidents as extrajudicial killings.
